Josephine M. Jones
Josephine M. Jones, 92, died, March 25, 2023, at the Lane County Hospital, Dighton.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1930, in Scott County, the daughter of John and Levina (Whithorn) Beach.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, she was the owner and operator of Jo’s Ceramics for 42 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Scott City, the Christian Women’s Fellowship, the local Eagles Auxiliary, and the Rebecca Lodge.
She loved children and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years and was a ceramic leader for Scott County 4-H. She also taught ceramic classes at the Scott County VIP Center.
On Dec. 26, 1948, she married Delbert E. Jones in Scott City. He died on Sept. 27, 2019, in Scott City.
Survivors include her daughter, Lila Savolt, and husband, Larry, Scott City; one granddaughter, Jolene Savolt Montoya, Kansas City; and one sonin- law, Kenny Montoya, Kansas City.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
The funeral service was held on March 30 at the First Christian Church, Scott City, with pastor Rodney Hopper presiding.
Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
