Karen Pilcher

Karen Kay Pilcher, 85, died on June 20, 2026, at her home in Garden City.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1941, in South Gate, Calif., the daughter of Dennis and Pauline (Ryan) Buehler.

She married Michael Ray Pilcher on March 18, 2000, in Old Colorado City, Colo. He survives.

Karen graduated with the class of 1961 at Scott Community High School in Scott City.

She lived in Scott City where she worked at the ASCS office before moving to Garden City where she was a delivery driver for UPS and later worked at Another Look Salon.

She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Garden City.

She enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, decorating, cooking and traveling.

Karen was a beautiful soul and will be deeply missed. She enjoyed many memorable trips with her husband, taking in the beauty of the scenery along the way.

She marveled at God’s creation with clouds being her absolute favorite.

She loved her church family and was actively involved in the church activities where she found joy, fellowship and a wonderful circle of friends.

She was a proud mother to her two daughters and loved her grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for the care and attention she took in her home and creating a comfortable space.

She found joy in life’s everyday tasks. She will also be remembered for her humor, kindness and of course her impeccable style.

She is also survived by her daughters, Angie Dee Gislar and husband, Scott, and Kimette Kay Benigni and husband, Tom; sisters, Jeanne Young, Marlene Boss and husband, Steve, and Lori Sankey and husband, Ron; four grandchildren, Drake Brungardt and wife, Taylor, Sara Brungardt, Savion Gislar and Bobby Gislar; and four great-grandchildren, Kamber, Hudson, Hayden and Graham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Rex Young; and grandparents, Otto and Katherine Buehler and Alven Estus and Nina Mae Ryan.

A memorial service will be held on Mon., July 13, 10:00 a.m., at First Southern Baptist Church with Rev John Harms officiating.

Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery.
