Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Dean Schwindt

Kenneth “Kenny” Dean Schwindt, died on May 11, 2022, at the age of 81-1/2 years.

Born Oct. 22, 1940, in Scott City to Clifford Leslie Schwindt and Lillie May Smith, he loved flying, telling jokes, hosting Rocky Mountain oyster fries, and raising hogs - not necessarily in that order.

Ken was great at, well, just about everything: master craftsman, selftaught mechanic/plumber/ electrician, rancher, farmer and more. He figured out how to make things work FOR him (weather, gravity, leverage) accomplishing an amazing amount of work by himself.

He truly was a “jack of all trades” and master of darned near every one of them, too!

What he couldn’t do was stay single. In 1964, he married Linda Sue Burkart. We’re not sure if she nabbed him or he talked her into marriage. Afterall, Ken could indeed “sell ice to an Eskimo.”

Ken loved kids; taught hundreds of ‘em how to tie their shoes over the years. Ever compassionate and kind (not to rattlesnakes), he never met a stranger and truly loved visiting with everyone.

Generous to a fault, he was always glad to help and would do anything for his family.

Ken could tell stories (most of them true) but was especially good at telling jokes…really, REALLY good at it…a perfect delivery every time!

But what Ken loved most was flying as a private pilot. He knew no fear and delighted in flying for the weather modification cloud seeding project.

Ken leaves his wife; two daughters, Kendra Schwindt and partner, David Kennelly, Marienthal, and Lynda Brockmeier and husband, Allen, Hays; sisters, Lois Tucker, Wellington, Colo., and Norma Marsh and husband, Bob, Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughter, Dr. Megan Swope, Beaverton, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews (who all know how to tie their shoes).

Join the family along with Revs. Paul NcNall and Tod Anthony on Sat., June 25, 2:00 p.m., at the Leoti United Methodist Church to wish Ken “Blue Skies and Tailwinds” on this, his final flight.

Memorials are suggested to Leoti EMS in care of Price and Sons Funeral Homes, Box 161, Leoti, Ks. 67861.
