Larry Wright

Larry Challis Wright, 93, died September 7, 2026, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

He was born on January 21, 1933, in Logan County, the son of James Elva and Leone Myrtle (Challis) Wright.

Larry worked for Wiens Elevators and then the Sunflower Helium Plant until his retirement.

Larry was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Scott City.

On March 21, 1955, he married Doris Maxine Deaver, in Russell Springs. She died on November 30, 2011.

Survivors include his daughters, Susan Wiechman and husband, Vance, Scott City, and Kyle Hoeme and husband, Stacy, Scott City; a son, Lynn Wright, and wife, Calista, Aurora, Colo.; brother, Gary Wright and wife, Darlene, Greeley, Colo.; a sister, Alene Sheldon, McPherson; nine grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Wright, and grandson, Jeffrey Wiechman.

The funeral service will be Fri., September 11, 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, Scott City, with Brenda Hogan presiding.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.

There will be no calling times.
