LaVerne Magdalene Luebbers

LaVerne Madgalene Luebbers, 85, died, May 28, 2022, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti.

She was born on Jan. 7, 1937, to Herman and Anna (Palkowits) Kuehler in Lasara, Tex.

A resident of Marienthal since 1940, she was a homemaker and office clerk for the FSA offices in Scott City and Lakin, in addition to working at the Wichita County treasurer’s office.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Marienthal where she was a volunteer for the Altar Society and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

She was a member of the Wichita County Hospital volunteers and served on the Senior Center board. She was a volunteer on the SWKAAA Sub Region 3 board and SWKAAA board of directors. She was also a member of the Patchwork Quilt Guild.

LaVerne married August Luebbers on May 24, 1955, in Sharon Springs. He survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Jerome Luebbers and wife, Darla, Leoti, Dennis Luebbers and wife, Mary Sue, Hutchinson, Bill Luebbers and wife, Marilyn, Leoti, and Tony Luebbers and wife, JaLene, Garden City; two daughters, Berta Binns and husband, Hugh, Scott City, and Bev Smith and husband, Tim, Paola; 19 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Elmer; and one granddaughter, Annie Luebbers.

June 2 at St. Mary Church in Marienthal with Father Tim Hickey and Father John O’Neil presiding.

Funeral Vigil was held at St. Mary Church.

Interment was at the St. Mary Cemetery, Marienthal.
