LaVerne Matney

LaVerne Matney, 90, died, at The Cottages in Garden City on May 6, 2023.

LaVerne was born July 6, 1932, in Leoti, to Burl and Fern Rogers.

She graduated from Leoti in 1951 and that same year married John B. Pearson. They had five children and were married until he passed away in 1985.

She married Fred Matney in 1987.

She immensely enjoyed music, dancing and playing dice with her loved ones. She was a sweet soul and loved by many.

Survivors include her four children, Iris Graham, Salina, Jack Pearson and wife, Terry, Meade, Jim Pearson, Hominey, Okla., and Jerry Pearson and wife, Robin, Lakin; a sister, Stella Hutton, Tulsa, Okla.; son-in-law, Frank Rebarchek; four stepchildren, Michael Matney and wife, Marchell, Jerry Matney and wife, Myla, Debbie Davis and husband, Darrel, and Donna Kriens and husband, Bruce; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; her daughter, Pamela Pearson Rebarchek; five brothers, Burl Gene Rogers, Ron Rogers, Leland Rogers, Kenny Rogers and Rick Rogers; stepchildren, Steven and Kathleen Matney; and son-in-law Larry Graham.
