Lea Dean

Lea M. Dean, 65, died, Jan. 11, 2024, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1958, in Las Animas, Colo., the daughter of Charley Raymond and Leona (Larrew) Hunt.

A resident of Scott City since 1982, moving from Goodland, she was a retired office manager for Bill Curtis Trucking in Scott City.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Scott City.

On Sept. 6, 1985, she married Clifford L. Dean in Scott City. He died on Oct. 7, 2013, in Scott City.

Survivors include her daughters, Leanna Hensley and husband, David, Hutchinson, and Markie Burhoop and husband, Korbyn, Scott City; a son, Justin Dean, Seattle, Wash.; sister, Sherry Peterson and husband, Terry, El Dorado; brother, Carl Hunt and wife, Gina, St. Francis; seven grandchildren, Chloe Marker, Aleiya Marker, Easton Hensley and Emry Hensley, all of Hutchinson, and Macy Brown, Tatum Brown and Paislee Brown, all of Scott City; and two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Hoss; and granddaughter, Shelby Woods.

A memorial service was held Jan. 15 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Scott County Cemetery.
