Margaret Hazel Litton

Margaret Hazel Litton, 100, died Sept. 30, 2021, at the High Plains Retirement Village, Garden City.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1921, in Dalhart, Tex., the daughter of W.H. and Annis C. (Hogue) McQuitty.

She had lived in Lakin since 1998, moving from Scott City. She worked multiple jobs, such as a school teacher and vice president of a bank.

She was a 50-year lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, serving as the Grand Matron for several years in the early 1990s.

On April 15, 1940, she married Vern C. Litton in Grinnell. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1977.

Survivors include three children, Larry Vern Litton, Holcomb, Linda Lee Berning, Franklin, Nebr., and Leanna Lynn Webb, Deerfield; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one greatgrandson.

The funeral service will be Fri., Oct. 8, 10:00 a.m., at the Lakin Wesleyan Church in Lakin.

A graveside committal service will follow on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Scott County Cemetery.
