Margie Beryl Stevens
Margie Beryl Stevens, 90, died Sept. 12, 2024, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.
She was born on May 24, 1934, in Scott County, the daughter of Brannon Burl and Reba Catherine (Walker) Harkness.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, she was a farm wife, nurse and musician.
Margie played the organ and piano for dances and founded and led the Hit-n-Miss senior citizen band for more than 30 years.
Margie was a 15-yearold graduate of Scott Community High School, president of the class of 1950, a 4-H leader, VIP Center board member and volunteer, and a member of the First Christian Church, Scott City.
On Feb. 25, 1951, she married Herbert A. Stevens in Scott City. He died on Oct. 13, 2020, in Scott City.
Survivors include her sons, Rick Stevens, Scott City, and Stacy Stevens, Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Colette Robinson and husband, Steve, Vienna, Va.; daughter-inlaw Ilene Stevens, Indianola, Ia.; sister, Kathryn Maudlin, Chapin, S.C.; five grandsons, Chandler Stevens and wife, Mara, St. Augustine, Fla., Corbin Stevens and wife, Heidi, Scott City, Curtis Stevens and wife, Theresa, Minneapolis, Ks., Sean Stevens, Atwood, and Seth Stevens, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two granddaughters, Cristalyn Kirchhoff, Smith Center, and Stefanie Stevens, Kansas City, Mo.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Helen Wiechman, Doris Strickert and Emma Greenlee; one brother, Robert Harkness; son, Mark Stevens; daughter, Melody Stevens; and grandson, Brannon Chayston Stevens.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sat., Oct. 5, 11:00 a.m., at the First Christian Church in Scott City with Rev. Rodney Hopper and Steve Payne presiding.
There will be no calling times.
