Marianne Porter

Marianne Eloise Porter, 77, died, Sept. 15, 2022, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti.

She was born June 5, 1945, to Burdett and Gladys Marie (Griffith) Patton.

She was a resident of the Leoti community since 1966, having moved from Scott City. She was a telephone operator, CNA for 10 years, and a small business owner.

On July 4, 1965, she married Roger Porter in a ceremony at her grandmother’s house in Scott City. He survives.

Marianne loved the outdoors. She loved to fish and play in the garden. She was a multigenerational mother, sharing her wisdom with generations of her family.

Other survivors are her sons, Robert Porter and partner, Malinda Kent, Holyoke, Colo., Todd Porter and wife, Mary Beth, Leoti, Brent Porter and wife, Janee, Leoti, and Jaiden Porter, Leoti; her daughter, McKenzie Porter, Leoti; a brother, Duane Patton and wife, Sharron, Scott City; six grandchildren, April Burrel, Nathan Porter and wife, Amber, Bryer Porter and wife, Stacy, Tristen Porter, Jentri Porter and Beau Porter; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Alfred (Bill) Clinton Porter and Gertrude Myrtle (Betty); a brother, Dennis Porter; and a great-grandson, Brandon LaMaster.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, 10:00 a.m., at the Wichita County Cemetery with pastor Chuck Mclaughlin presiding.

Memorials may be given to the Marianne Porter Nursing Scholarship fund which will be given yearly to a Wichita County student, in care of Price and Sons Funeral Homes, Box 161, Leoti, Ks. 67861.
