Martha ‘Anne’ Rodie

Martha “Ann” Rodie, 91, died January 13, 2025, at Park Lane Nursing Home, in Scott City.

She was born on January 9, 1934, to J.W. and Elizabeth (McMullen) Cruse in Great Bend.

Ann worked, for many years, caring for patients as a certified nurses’ aide for Central Kansas Medical Center and St. Rose Health Center.

She married Norman Herbert Rodie on February 5, 1950, in Otis. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2006.

Ann was a long-time Great Bend resident until 1980 when she moved to Russell until residing in the nursing home in 2023.

She was a talented seamstress and put her fingers to work crocheting and doing needlepoint. She enjoyed the time spent with her husband fishing. They would celebrate the fruits of their labors by inviting family and friends over for fish frys.

Ann was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend and St. John Lutheran Church in Russell.

Survivors include her daughters, Diania Miller, Wichita, Sue Bennett and husband, Carroll, Larned, Lisa Lovins and husband, Walter, Scott City, and Amy Keeler and husband, Scott, Great Bend; grandchildren, Shaun Grimes and wife, Jessica, Lyndsey Grimes and partner, Patrick, Christopher Martin and wife, Marissa, Stephanie Feist and husband, Jason, Krystal Cook-Pearson and husband, Mark, Brennan Cook and wife, Stacy, and Adrian Noll and husband, Matt; step-grandchildren, Carol Ann Smith and husband, Roy Don, LeAnn Hope, Kimberly Cummings and husband, Colby, Paden Lovins and wife, Brittany, and Mason Keeler and wife, Maegan; 12 greatgrandchildren and 34 step-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Ray Rodie; sisters, Donna Story, Virginia Rodie and Leah Richards; and son-in-law, Harold Miller.

The funeral service was held on January 17 at Bryant Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Wutka presiding.

A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Great Bend Cemetery.
