Mary Torson

Mary L. Torson, 80, died, Nov. 3, 2023, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1943, in Scott City, the daughter of Richard Wayne and Elsie Mae (Smith) McEachern.

A lifetime resident of Scott City, she was a waitress at Kelly’s Cafe in Scott City for many years where she met her husband. Later on, she was a retail clerk and a home healthcare provider.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Pink Ladies and a former Girl Scout leader, all in Scott City. She was also an avid bowler, participating in several leagues On Sept. 15, 1959, she married Martin L. Torson in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. He died on Dec. 19, 2010, in Scott City.

Survivors include her son, Martin Jr. Torson and wife, Debbie, Alba, Tex.; daughters, Doreena Marshall and husband, Randy, Garden City, Rebecca Tresner, Pratt, Joletta Mize and husband, Jack, Basehor, and Shelly Berry and husband, Darrel, Scott City; brothers, John McEachern and wife, Kay, Ulysses, and Richard McEachern and wife, Jamie, Scott City; a sister, Twila McLean, Garden City; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren and four sisters.

The funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 20, 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.

There will be no calling times.

Inurnment will be in the Dighton Cemetery.
