Neva Mae Daniels
Neva Mae Daniels, 100, died, Dec. 4, 2022 at the Garten Countryside Home Assisted Living in Abilene.
She was born on October 17, 1922, in Scott County, the daughter of Harry and Rhonda (Simmons) Crist.
A lifetime resident of Scott City, until moving to Abilene in 2005, she was a mother and homemaker.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Friend and was very active at the Brethren in Christ in Abilene. She was also a member of the HGL Club, El Quartelejo Saddle Club and Kolorful Kansas Art Association.
On Dec. 9, 1942, she married Raymond Daniels in LaJolla, Calif. He died on Jan. 30, 2005, in Scott City.
Survivors include her two daughters, Donna Samples and husband, Mike, Abilene, and Linda Jo Weatherbie and husband, Ron, Princeton; one grandson, Caleb Stroup and wife, Alisha, Princeton; one granddaughter, Micah Samples, Abilene; and three great-grandchildren, Kord Stroup, Rylie Stroup and Cason Stroup.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Alfred and Wilford Crist.
The funeral service was held Dec. 21 at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, with pastors Jon Tuttle and Dale Engle presiding.
Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
