Pete Paul Herrera
Pete Paul Herrera, 85, Leoti, died on June 17, 2025.
Pete was born at home in Minatare, Nebr., on June 28, 1939, one of many children born to Ysabel Herrera and Marianna Suarez.
Pete moved to Leoti in 1964. He worked at High Plains Feedlot as a truck driver and continued his employment there as it changed hands to Caprock and later to Cargill, Inc.
On August 4, 1964, Pete married his beloved wife, Delores Ann Herrera.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints.
Pete is survived by six children, Pete Paul Herrera, Jr., and wife, Penny, Newport News, Va., Bonnie Herrera, Maryville, Mo., Esther Herrera Sturdivant and husband, Dennis, Decatur, Mich., Lillie Herrera Haverfield, Russell Springs, Marcus Herrera and wife, Sylvia, Winfield, Isabel Herrera and partner, Ian McDonald, Saint George, Utah; sister, Monica Herrera Flores; three brothers, Hermengildo Herrera, Augustine Herrera and Joseph Herrera; 34 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Pete was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a son, Adam Daniel Herrera; grandson, Pete Paul Herrera III; daughter- in-law, Barbara Ann Herrera; son-in-law, John Calvin Haverfield; along with many of his brothers and sisters including Frank Herrera, Tony Herrera, Rejis Herrera, Luis Herrera, Aurelio Herrera, Ebaristo Herrera, Ramona Herrera Requejo, Ruth Herrera Guerra, Loretta Herrera Hernandez, Josephina Herrera Cano and Mary Ann Herrera Maestas.
A graveside service will be held on August 30 at the Leoti Cemetery, followed by a luncheon which will be served by Sisters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Scott City Ward.
