Richard L. ‘Dick’ Barton

Richard L. “Dick” Barton, 89, died, August 8, 2022, at his home in Scott City.

H e was born on May 15, 1933, in Hutchinson, the son of Henry LaVerne and Dorothy Marie (Welty) Barton.

A resident of Scott City, since 1979, moving from Dighton, he was a retired school administrator.

He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Anthem Masonic Lodge No. 284, both of Scott City, and was a Past Potentate of Isis Shriners of Salina.

On July 25, 1957, he married Joy Graver in Ash Valley. She survives.

Other survivors include his three sons, Rod Barton and wife, Wanda, Scott City, Chad Barton and wife, Mary Jo, Great Bend, and Kale Barton, Scott City; two daughters, Jill Hass and husband, Gary, Salina, and Heidi Ring and husband, Ken, Clay Center; one brother, Donald Barton and wife, Sharon, Hays; nine grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother; two brothers, Bruce Barton and Kenneth Barton; and one grandson, Curtis Emberton.

A graveside memorial service will be held Tues., August 16, 11:00 a.m., at the Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, with Rev. Jeff Goetzinger presiding.

There will be no calling times.
