Robert John Fulton

Robert John Fulton, 70, Las Cruces, N.M., died at Three Crosses Regional Hospital, Las Cruces, on Feb. 28, 2024.

Robert was born on June 12, 1953, in Gibson City, Ill., to Robert J. Fulton and Leata Meyer Fulton.

He was a 1971 graduate of Melvin-Sibley High School, Melvin, Ill., where he was fondly known as “Steamboat.”

Upon graduation, he decided to leave the farm he grew up on in Sibley and move to Leoti. There he met and married Gloria Medina on Sept. 6, 1975. He married Mary Aragon Tucker on May 25, 2000, in Hawaii.

After 27 years of employment with Wheatland Electric in Scott City, he retired in 2007. He and Mary later moved to Las Cruces.

Robert spent countless hours enjoying the outdoors and working in his yard. He loved animals, loved to tell stories, reminisce, and in general, enjoyed engaging in conversation with friends and family. As a member of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Las Cruces, his faith deepened through Bible study and small group discussion.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his step-mother, Betty Fulton; children and step-children, Travis Fulton and wife, Addie, and Kacie McKinney and husband, Jace, all of Scott City, Sabrina Reyes and husband, Andrew, Coppell, Tex., Leah Tucker, Eagle, Ida., and Ericah Schmucker, Alexandria, Va.; sister, Karen Terry and husband, Tim, Linn Creek, Mo.; grandchildren, Dylan Fulton, Josh Fulton, Derek and Noah McKinney, Isabella and Seth Reyes, and Christian and Ethan Schmucker; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda K. Osborne; and his grandparents, Thurman and Florence Fulton, Earl and Melba Fischer, and John and Lizzie Meyer.

A memorial service will be held Sat., April 13, 10:30 a.m., at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City.

There will be no calling times.

Inurnment will be in the Scott County Cemetery.
