Robert L. Waters

Robert L. Waters, 72, died at his home in Scott County on August 31, 2021.

He was born on June 30, 1949, in Junction City, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Weaver) Waters.

After attending Kansas State University and meeting Marilyn S. Winderlin, they married in 1969 in Scott City. She survives.

He began his career at Coleman Industries in Wichita and transferred to Elkhart, Ind., as a warehouse manager.

As a family, they moved to the family farm in Scott County in 1978, with a small pig named Arnold that he received as a going away gift. That was his start to being a hog farmer which he did until 1989.

He then started working as a broker for Schwieterman, Inc., in Garden City.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Scott City.

Robert enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, gardening, raising chickens, growing flowers from seed and filling his greenhouse, and baking bread.

Other survivors include his two daughters, Julie Conard and husband, Chris, Leoti, and Cindy Blasi and husband, Clint, Wichita; four grandchildren, Braedyn and Chantz Blasi, Wichita, Myles Conard, Leoti, and Kelsie Tilton and husband, Eddie, Wiggins, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Anita Noel and Patricia Fay Lawrence.

Vigil service will be held on Fri., Sept. 3, 7:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Fr. Don Bedore presiding.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be written to the Robert Waters Memorial Fund for an education scholarship in care of Price and Sons Funeral Homes, Box 553, Scott City, Ks. 67871.
