Shirley Darlene Bennett, 82, died on March 30, 2026, at The Ranch House in Garden City.
She was born Shirley Darlene Farr on August 26, 1943, in Scott City, the daughter of William Oliver and Mildred Rosetta (Russell) Farr.
She was a 1961 graduate of Scott Community High School.
She married Aaron Kent Bennett in 1961.
Shirley’s career as an accountant began at Burnett Cattle in Scott City, where she served faithfully for 13 years before relocating to Garden City in 1989. There, she continued her professional journey for 21 years with Gigot Feeders/Garden City Feedyard/AZTX/ Trinity Feedyard, demonstrating a strong work ethic until her retirement.
Shirley was a 4-H leader, a Girl Scout leader and was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge.
A faithful member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City, Shirley’s spirit was grounded in faith and fellowship.
Survivors include her children, Shonda Sauseda and husband, Willie, Garden City, Shelia Croft and husband, JT, Copeland, Michael Bennett and wife, Lexie, Topeka, Mark Bennett and wife, Suzy, Gilbertville, Ia., and Sharilyn Stewart and husband, Darin, Scott City; a sister, May Carpenter and husband Ralph, Garden City; sister-in-law, Roberta Farr, Louisville, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, 30 greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Delbert, Don, Norman and Leon Farr; sister, Brenda Kay Farr; and her granddaughter, Maddison Shiraye Stewart.
A book signing will be held on Thurs., April 9, 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5:007:00 p.m., at Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, Garden City.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church, Garden City, with Pastor John Harms officiating.
