Tim Helmers

Tim Helmers, 77, died April 4, 2026, at Sunrise Senior Living in Plano, Tex., after a battle with cancer.

Tim was born on April 22, 1948, in Garden City, to A.R. (Al) and Vera Helmers. A resident of Plano, Tex., he had been an automobile consultant.

Tim graduated from Scott Community High School in 1966, and from Phillips University, Enid, Okla., in 1970.

Tim was baptized as a young man at First Christian Church in Scott City and his faith in Jesus remained important to him throughout his life.

Tim began his professional career with Ford Motor Company in Kansas City in 1971. He eventually moved to Plano, Tex., in 1979 where he lived until his death.

Tim founded Helmers Group and, with partners Phil Spurlock and Kenny Lemaster, grew a successful business that he enjoyed working for until only several weeks before his death.

He is survived by his niece, Holly Elsey and husband, Bryan, Manhattan; two nephews, Blake Helmers and wife, Brooke, Manhattan, and Grant Helmers and wife, Caroline, Overland Park; and 10 great-nieces and nephews, along with many friends.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Linda Helmers.

Tim will be buried at the Scott County Cemetery. No funeral service will be held.
