Virginia Robbins
Virginia Robbins, 90, died July 6, 2026.
She was born on July 5, 1936, in Oregon City, Ore., to Claude and Eva (Wakeland) Robinson.
She graduated from Scott Community High School in 1954.
Virginia worked as a lifeguard at the old pool near Patton Park and as a telephone operator.
She married Robert “Bob” Robbins on Feb. 12, 1956. They lived on the Scott/Wichita county line.
In 1968, she worked in town typing the county tax roll so they could put in a swimming pool on the farm. She taught many people to swim.
She moved to Lamar, Colo., in her latter years and lived with her son.
Virginia is survived by her son, Richard Robbins; daughter, Pam Unruh and husband Greg; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on July 11 at the Scott County Cemetery with Greg Unruh presiding.
