Wayde R. Berry

Wayde R. Berry, 94, died, Dec. 17, 2021, at the Scott County Hospital, Scott City.

H e was born on Dec. 29, 1926, in Franklin, Tex., the son of Wilson W. and Bessie L. (Isbell) Berry.

A resident of Scott City since 2013, moving from Tecumseh, Okla., he was a bulk agent for Standard Oil and a truck driver.

Wayde was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Assembly Of God Church, Scott City, and a lifetime member of the VFW.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Berry and wife, Sherrie, Scott City, Benny Berry and partner, Cheree Swaney, Dodge City, and Darrel Berry and wife, Shelly, Scott City; a daughter, Pam McDaniel and husband, Terry, Scott City; brother, Gerrel Berry and wife, Deb, Dacoma, Okla.; 14 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Arthur, Wilson, Thomas, Louis, Samuel, Wayne G., Dranon Roy, and Sherman Berry; and four sisters, Estelle Thomas, Ollie Parks, Virginia King and Emalee Twyford.

Funeral service was held Dec. 20 at the First Baptist Church, Scott City, with Pastor Don Williams presiding.

Interment was in the Scott County Cemetery.
