William ‘Clint’ Clinton Hanna
William ‘Clint’ Hanna
William (Clint) Clinton Hanna, 90, died Jan. 26, 2026, in San Antonio, Tex., following multiple health complications.
He was born in a sod house on Aug. 20, 1935, in Gove County, a place that would forever shape who he was and what he loved.
He attended Kansas State University where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Jo Hanna. They shared 68 years of marriage marked by devotion, partnership and faithfulness.
Over the course of his life he wore many hats. He worked as a land surveyor, weatherman, fighter pilot, rancher and teacher. Above all, he was a devoted husband, a father of three, a grandfather of six, and a great-grandfather of 14. Each role was carried out with strength, integrity, and care for others.
He loved the outdoors and embraced life with energy and curiosity. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, sailing, horseback riding, tennis, racquetball and pickleball. And many of the family’s favorite memories are of doing these things alongside him.
He didn’t just pursue these activities; he shared them, inviting family into experiences that built both skill and character.
A central part of his legacy is the family farm in Western Kansas. Growing up on the farm, he and his five brothers and sisters developed a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and heritage values they intentionally passed on to the next generations.
Even in the last decades of their lives, he and his wife made twice-yearly trips back to Kansas to manually dig and place hundreds of fence posts at the ranch. Sometimes we joined them, working side by side, continuing a tradition that was about far more than fences - it was about stewardship, perseverance and belonging.
In keeping with that legacy, he asked that his ashes be buried in a fence post hole on the family land in Western Kansas, a final resting place that reflects his love for the land, his roots, and the life he lived.
He is remembered him for his courage, strong work ethic, generosity, wisdom, and integrity. Most of all, we remember him as a loving and dedicated father whose life deeply shaped our own.
He often expressed his thankfulness to God for his family and the life that he was given. His legacy lives on in our family, in the land he cherished, and in the values he quietly modeled every day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Hanna; his children, Roger Hanna and Sandy Hamby; his siblings, Marilyn Harman and Don Hanna; six cherished grandchildren and their spouses; and 14 adored great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Iris Hanna; his sister, Phyllis Chezem; his brothers, Clyde Hanna, Joe Hanna and Jimmy Hanna; and his son, Joe Hanna.
Your thoughts and prayers are sincerely appreciated. Please know that gifts or donations are not necessary.
A family celebration will be held at some point in the future at the place of his birth in Gove County.
