William D. ‘Bill’ Harris
William D. (Bill) Harris, 72, died at his rural Meade County residence.
He was born June 10, 1949, at Liberal, the son of Dr. Norvan D. and Dorothy M. (McMahon) Harris.
As a young boy, he attended school in Liberal, graduating from Liberal High School. After graduation, he attended Fort Hays State University and later Kansas State University, receiving his undergraduate degree.
He furthered his education, graduating from Wichita State University’s physician assistant program.
In 2000, he moved to Meade from Satanta and began his career with the Meade District Hospital and Meade Medical Clinic until his retirement.
He was a member of the Sierra Club and several professional organizations. He enjoyed music, reading, southwestern Indian art, fishing, hunting and National Public Radio.
He is survived by a brother, Van Harris and wife, Cheryl, Augusta; a sister, Janet Harris, Quinter; a niece, Hillarie; and four nephews, Garrett, Cameron, Ryan and John.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cynthia Perry.
There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place. A family service will be held at a later date.
