A battle that Kansans won’t win
It’s no surprise that a Democratic governor and a Republican-controlled legislature should find themselves at odds when it comes to ideology and policy decisions.
When those differences get in the way of doing what’s best for the majority then it becomes a problem.
And so it is with Susan Wagle, president of the Kansas Senate, who believes that her primary mission in Topeka is to stand in opposition to Gov. Laura Kelly rather than fight for issues that would benefit the majority of Kansans such as greater education opportunities, expanding health care to more Kansans or trying to address our infrastructure needs.
Apparently, it’s more rewarding for Wagle and her gaggle of ultraconservatives to offer resistance to the governor at every turn.
