Forget the truth: State GOPs attack those who follow their conscience

“You can’t handle the truth,” as Jack Nicholson famously said as Col. Nathan Jessep in “A Few Good Men.”

The same could be said for today’s Republican Party amid the growing list of prominent men and women within the party who are being censured for having the audacity to tell the truth.

Doug Ducey has grown in the past week following votes by seven Senate Republicans to convict Donald Trump of high crimes and misdemeanors. Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) have been censured by their state level GOP’s while potential censure votes from their state parties await Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Nebr.).
