Infrastructure: Winter blast a reminder of need to invest in energy grid

Texans like to think of themselves as their own country - big enough to weather anything and to solve their own problems. Mother Nature has proven herself bigger and badder than Texas.

As four million people were without power in what is supposed to be the energy capital of the nation, Texas officials are pleading for help from - where else? - the federal government. Gov. Greg Abbott requested federal aid to combat the winter storm and it was quickly granted.

But don’t think there isn’t a sense of irony buried within this.
