Our death has been exaggerated
These are tough times for the newspaper industry.
When President Trump isn’t attacking the “fake news” (the genius made that up himself), print journalism is fighting for survival against hedge fund managers who buy major newspapers and newspaper chains and gut their news departments in an effort to maximize short-term profits.
We all lose when the newspapers we grew up with are only a shell of what they once were.
At the same time, small-town newspapers have seen their advertising revenue slip as Main Street businesses shut down due to population loss and the pressure of internet merchandising.
