School funding is about priorities

As Kansas lawmakers wage their never-ending battle with the state Supreme Court over school funding, they might poke their heads out of the trenches long enough to observe that Kansas isn’t the only battlefield.

Public school teachers in West Virginia were on strike for nine days to increase salaries which had been stagnant for several years. The median salary for the 2016-17 school year was $45,622 - the fourth lowest in the nation - according to the National Education Association.
