Trump series ‘jumping the shark’
There’s a phrase in the television industry known as “jumping the shark.”
It’s in reference to the Happy Days television series of the 1970s and 1980s featuring Fonzie (Henry Winkler) and Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard). However, as with any series, writers and producers get tapped out when it comes to interesting story lines, become increasingly desperate to keep their audience, or both.
The sign of desperation came when the Fonz was skiing in the ocean near Los Angeles (wearing his leather jacket, naturally) and jumped a shark. It was apparent that despite our ability to accept that the Fonz was capable of just about anything with the snap of a finger, there are limits.
