Trump won’t learn, but will we?
When the history of the coronavirus is written, this event will be viewed through two lenses.
First of all, there will be considerable debate about whether medical specialists and scientists exaggerated the scope of the virus and whether the suggested response (even when not followed or adhered to on a limited scale) was appropriate.
Governors and state health officials will come under the same scrutiny for the decisions they chose to make in hopes of protecting the health of their citizens, or didn’t take in hopes of protecting their economy.
In the end, we will have to determine if there is a point at which protecting lives is more costly than protecting livelihoods? Or if we have any compassion within our souls, is it even possible to make that kind of cold, calculating analysis?
