Welcome to the new reality
As graduates walk across high school stages to eagerly accept the traditional symbol of accomplishment and recognition they have achieved adulthood, they also carry with them the belief that their parents, teachers, coaches and friends have all contributed in preparing them for the real world.
And some graduation speeches will acknowledge as much with help from Dr. Seuss or in a tearful tribute to Mom and Dad.
Before leaping off that stage into the arms of a real world that is anxiously awaiting your arrival - not always with the best of intentions - you may want to slow down long enough to watch where you are stepping.
