What if this happened in our town?

Imagine for a moment this was your town.

It’s been a rough winter and the street in front of your house has potholes (in some towns that doesn’t require a lot of imagination). So you go to the city council and ask for your street to be repaired.

The mayor says the street can’t be as bad as you say. He’s up for reelection and claims that the potholes are a hoax being perpetrated by his opponent.

Then he says the trash truck from another town is the problem. However, the mayor says the trash truck will no longer be allowed in the city so the potholes should miraculously disappear in another week or two.

After nothing is done for a month and hitting potholes has led to a broken axle, you again demand that the city council do something. This time, 20 other local residents are complaining about the same problem on their streets and showing the council their car repair bills.
