Imagine the shock when Hugh Hewitt, a conservative columnist for the Washington Post suggested that the prospect of student loan forgiveness is a plot by Joe Biden to win over a major constituency of voters to aid Democrats in the mid-terms and possibly his own re-election bid in 2024.
Of all the big lies that Republican officials and media personalities have deployed for partisan advantage over the past several years, the most sickening by far is their current campaign to depict Democrats as “groomers” - meaning that they are sexual predators who recruit underage victims.
How many among us ever had that “talk” with our parents? You know . . . the one that went beyond the birds and the bees and delved into intimate details about sex.
Claims of “fake news” have become a common mantra from Donald J. Trump, further amplified by Republican politicians as an easy way to dismiss evidence of their own malfeasance, ineptitude and lies.
