‘a means to an end’

Air Force career allowed Herbelin to follow his faith

Travis Herbelin has had two callings in his life.

The first was to become a career officer in the U.S. Air Force. The second was to devote his life to God.

It was the first calling that has made it possible for Herbelin to join the Church of Christ in Scott City.

“I’m not a preacher. I’m an evangelist,” explains Herbelin, though he did earn a bachelor’s degree in theology from the Bear Valley Bible Institute, Denver.

The difference?

“A traditional preacher is in the pulpit every Sunday. You spend most of your week in study preparing for your sermon,” he says.
