27 inducted into National Honor Society
Twenty-seven new members were accepted into the Wood Chapter of National Honor Society at Scott Community High School during an induction ceremony held on May 2. In order to be considered for membership, students must complete three semesters with a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
Community service continues to be a major emphasis for NHS members - in addition to academic excellence. Each Chapter member must fulfill five hours of community service each year, which is in addition to the 20 hours required for graduation from SCHS. The 29 members provided more than 500 hours of volunteer work. Senior Emily Glenn was recognized for the second consecutive year as recipient of the NHS Service Award for her commitment to the organization and volunteer work. Jerrie Brooks, who has resigned after 40 years with USD 466, was recognized for her role as NHS sponsor during the past 11 years
