Area districts are scrambling to fill teaching positions
As students prepare to return to classrooms over the next few weeks, a question facing more and more districts is whether they will have enough teachers at the head of the class.
Teaching vacancies have become a perennial issue - especially for Western Kansas districts - who face the challenges of salary and geography when trying to hire new staff.
The Wichita County school district was able to fill a junior/senior high art position, but only after being granted a licensure exception by the Kansas State Department of Education.
