BOE now considering ‘safe rooms’ for SCES

Rather than a single, large room designed to serve as a tornado shelter, the Scott County board of education (USD 466) is considering the prospect of “safe rooms” for each classroom within Scott City Elementary School.

The rooms, which could hold about 30 people, would serve as both a tornado shelter and a shelter in the event of an intruder in the building.
