Camp continues to build for the future

Managing a church camp isn’t something Steve and Danielle Massaglia had ever considered. It’s certainly not one of those career choices that high school seniors are considering before they graduate.

The idea didn’t occur to either of them until their pastor at the First Baptist Church in Hays commented at the end of a Sunday service that Camp Christy was in search of a manager.

“We’d talked about operating a bed and breakfast, but we didn’t have a way of making that happen,” noted Steve.

Both were in agreement that this might be just what they were looking for. Steve thought he could be in charge of maintenance while Danielle would be responsible for the day-today operations.

In August, the couple and their four children will celebrate six years at the camp.

“It’s been a wonderful experience,” says Danielle. “We’ve enjoyed meeting so many great people and what better place could you want to live?”
