City council backs off mill levy hike

Will dip into cash reserves for 2019 budget

With an eye on easing an increase in the overall mill levy for Scott County taxpayers, the Scott City council opted to reduce its proposed levy for the 2019 budget.

Instead of a 3.22 increase in the mill levy, the city council on Monday evening adopted a budget that will reduce the levy by 2/100 of a mill - from 72.121 mills in the current budget to 72.119 mills in 2019.
