City oks boost in water rates
Scott City water customers will soon see a $1.29 increase in their basic rates in order for the city to upgrade electronic meter reading equipment used by the public works department.
Because the water department is required to be selfsustaining, any infrastructure improvements must be paid for through its rate system without tapping into the city’s general fund.
The rate hike won’t be presented to the council for its official approval until the July 3 meeting. The new rates will likely be reflected on bills that customers receive in August.
