Council may take another look at salary schedule
In an effort to make sure salaries were competitive with other municipalities of similar size across the state, the Scott City Council participated in a study that compared job and responsibilities.
The result was a pay scale that the council feels not only has made them competitive with other cities, but with similar jobs in the private sector However, that was 20 years ago and times have changed
With unemployment hovering around four percent or less, it can be difficult to fill positions. And sometimes the starting wage isn’t enough.
“I couldn’t live on the minimum,” Scott City Police Chief Chris Jurgens told the council, referring to the starting wage of an officer.
