Council okays part-time officer for PD
The Scott City Council has approved the hiring of a part-time police officer to reduce overtime and provide some relief when the department is short of personnel.
Sean Coleman, who is a fulltime ww game warden with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and 406 Main Tourism (KDWPT) was hired at $15 per hour and a maximum of 20 hours per week.
Police Chief David Post said Coleman was given approval by KDWPT to work part-time for his department.
Post said the department has been hit particularly hard with overtime costs lately. Two officers 2090 have been attending the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. Another officer will be taking temporary leave because his wife is having a child.
