County initiates action on prairie dogs

Prairie dogs are in the crosshairs of Scott County Commissioners who have approached three landowners about eliminating the critters from their land.

Action by the county is in response to complaints by neighboring landowners. The commission sent letters to the landowners with prairie dogs requesting they take steps to “substantially reduce or eradicate” the problem.

If not, commissioners say they will take action.

Letters were sent out on November 6 and landowners were given until the end of the month to take care of the problem on their own, according to commissioners.
