County OKs first step for Extension unification

Scott County commissioners have approved a resolution which is the first step in a possible unification of the Scott and Finney county Extension districts.

The forming of a district is subject to a petition of local voters. If the petition is signed by at least 169 qualified voters in the county it would bring the issue to a county-wide vote which likely wouldn’t be held until August of 2020.

The petition is simply the first step in a process that allows representatives from both counties to iron out the details of the Extension district. Scott County Extension Agent John Beckman doesn’t anticipate the district being formed before July of 2021.
