County tax levy down slightly

Another year of healthy cash carryover has made it possible for the Scott County Commission to slightly reduce the county mill levy in the proposed 2019 budget.

Combined with a $2.3 million increase in the county valuation, property owners will see a reduction in their tax levy from 69.708 mills in 2018 to 69.047 mills for the upcoming year.

“Give credit to all the departments doing a very efficient job of providing services,” says Commission Chairman Jim Minnix.
