COVID strikes close to home with Scott City mayor, family

a new perspective

Everett Green is like most Midwesterners.

He’s a Republican. He voted for Donald Trump. And he was somewhat skeptical about the coronavirus pandemic.

Green’s world changed on July 27 when he tested positive for the coronavirus after being exposed nine days earlier during a local political campaign event.

“We tend to think only of how things affect us and it’s easy to see how people in Western Kansas don’t see coronavirus as a big deal,” says Green, a local businessman who is also the mayor of Scott City.
