Dog owners threaten suit after pet is euthanized

Scott City Police Chief Chris Jurgens says it’s been “forever” since a dog being held at the city pound had been humanely euthanized.

Forever ended on June 27 when Buddy, a seven- year-old German Shepherd was put down 10 weeks after being impounded by police and nearly eight weeks after the Scott City Council had determined it was a “potentially dangerous dog.”

Chris Marquez and Kassie Hall claim the police and the city were being “vindictive” since Buddy’s death came a day after an incident near their home in which another one of their dogs was picked up because it had been a threat to a local resident.
