Elective surgeries to resume at SC Hospital

Specialty clinics are also being scheduled

With just six coronavirus cases reported in Scott County, it might be easy to assume the community will escape the pandemic wave that’s hitting some parts of the state.

But that wasn’t the motivation behind the Scott County Hospital’s decision to begin resuming some elective surgical procedures and begin scheduling specialty clinics.

“There was a growing concern from our physician team that a number of people have health issues which aren’t being addressed because they’re worried about the coronavirus,” says SCH CEO Mark Burnett, who acknowledges that’s also reflected in a much lower number of visitations to the clinic.
