Salary hikes, more staff in USD budget

An increase of slightly more than $1 million in state and local funding will be put to use bolstering staff salaries, staff size and addressing transportation needs within USD 466 (Scott County).

Even with an $873,261 boost in state funding, the district’s taxpayers will see a tax hike of nearly three mills in the budget that was approved by the board of education on Monday evening.

After expenditures of $14 million two years ago and $13.6 million in the 2016-17 school year, the proposed budget for 2017-18 includes expenditures of $15.4 million. Of that, $5.27 million is raised through property taxes
