Scott City chase ends with crash, arrest

The pursuit of a vehicle by five law enforcement vehicles through the streets of Scott City on Halloween morning was no treat for a Scott City man who is in jail facing multiple charges.

David McKinney, 58, led officers with the Scott City Police Department and Scott County Sheriff’s Department on a 10 minute chase through the downtown and residential areas before he was rammed by a police car as McKinney turned west on 9th Street toward Scott City Middle School.

McKinney made his first appearance in Scott County District Court on Monday morning. He is facing charges of aggravated battery; fleeing/attempting to elude law enforcement; interference with law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties; violation of a protection order; and reckless driving.

There is a possibility that other charges will be filed.

He is being held in the Scott County Law Enforcement Center with bond set at $150,000.
